Hiking
During the summer, Mallnitz is a true paradise for hikers. You can make great journeys, also with kids, through the valleys such as Seebachtal with a nature playground for children, or such as Tauerntal, for a cultural walk crossing ancient Roman roads.
For the real mountaineers, there is a route over the Auernig. Visible from all of Mallnitz is the big Gipfelkruez on the rocky tops of the Auernig.
It’s also possible to go rock climbing with a guide, mountaineering or go trail running.
A visit to the “schluchten” (water falls) in and around Mallnitz is definitely worth the effort. The Groppensteinschlucht, the Raggaschlucht and the Rabischssclucht are enormous water falls, providing the possibility to walk beside all the way to the top. An amazing experience for young and old.

Erlebnisbad Obervellach: Only 10 minutes from Mallnitz lies the village Obervellach. Erlebnisbad Obervellach is synonym for adventure, fun and relaxation. Both in the summer as in the winter period. The indoor part has a pool, a separate kids ppol and a wide solarium with an amazing view.
The outdoor swimming pool, is a real treat for the whole family. You can enjoy the overflowing island, a cave fenced by a water fall as well as the beds on the side and the playground for the kids. The major attraction is the almost 70 meter long BLACK HOLE slide with light effects. Furthermore, there is a beachvolleybal field, a sauna centre with Finish sauna, steam bath, herbal sauna and infrared sauna available. Go to the website.
Tauernbad Mallnitz: Regardless of the weather, this indoor pool with different sauna’s and solarium, in the midst of the village, is always a treat. There is a special bassin with slide for the kids. You an enjoy the sun during the summer on the meadow. Next to the pool there are 2 tennis courts which you can use, as well as an in-line skate court, 2 paved curling trakcs and a field for basket ball or hockey. Visitors centre Nationalpark Hohe Tauern: You can learn everything there is abaout Nationalpark Hohe Tauern in this modern visitors centre. Where to spot wild animals or which spots are suitable and fun for children. You can also experience the ranger labs: workshops for both children and adults where you can learn about nature by conducting experiments, supervised by a ranger. Go to the website.
Freizeit – Zentrum Seebachtal: On the hinking route to the beautiful Stappitzer See in the Seebachtal, where many rare animals live, you can find the Freizeit Zentrum Seebachtal. If you haven’t had enough skiing or boarding during the winter, during the summer it’s also possible to exercise your winter sports in the only glacier area of Carinthia; the Mölltaler Glacier. This Glacier is open during the entire year and even during the summer, the conditions are perfect for a fun day in winter circumstances.
